They are the remains of a castro, a castro is a strengthened settlement, in general prerromano though there exist later examples that lasted up to the Middle Ages, they are own of ends of the Age of the Bronze and of the Age of the Iron and especially of the Celtic culture. One of his principal characteristics is that the houses are circular.

In Galicia there are numerous castros, this one is one of the most important.
