Exact location for this telephoto shot is difficult to find in what is an apparently changed face of the dam from almost forty years ago. At the time there were no real "tourist" facilities in the area, no organized, regular cruises. There was a newly built place for visitors with very interesting walls and counters decorated in wood with the bark remaining with a part of a wall seen in Paulo Afonso 1972, Visitor Area Decoration. The main construction was with whole logs. The caves, known for the bats, may be seen in a more current photo by eduardo cruz. There seems to be more vegetation on the canyon walls and rim probably due to the moisture changes brought about by the now several dams in the area.
