Hi Jim!Why beggars? Is this ancient bridge?

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on February 25, 2011

First! My humble apologies for being so late to respond---

beegood~~~Thanks Maja ;>) there are many fair maidens who have received a proposal of marriage on this bridge, and they say that a few returned later to throw in their wedding rings!

matsljungberg~~~Welcome Mats--I enjoyed your nice comments!

haggs~~~~The ancient pack-horse bridge was completely overpowered by the construction of an ugly elevated railway bridge (see link below) in the middle of the 19th century..The railway pioneers had no thought or understanding of sympathetic designs!

ydee---hello Yves ;>) Did you also notice the blot on the landscape

© Konny~~~Cheers for that Konny ;>)

Reiner Vogeley---I'm glad you liked it Reiner ;>)

Buts_YV~~~Many thanks Yuri ;)

mbe21---Good to see you Mick, much appreciated!!

stacy metcalf~~~Hi! Stacey ;>)..The English landscape is littered with every conceivable type of bridge..Old bridges like this are common place, throw in all the railway bridges, the canal crossings pedestrian links and you get the picture.

Diggory Venn----Greetings Digg and thanks for your query..The answer can be found on the first page of comments!

Simplex736~~~~The English are very fond of their bridges Ted and the name of the oldest have strong community links...

My sincere thanks to you all for spending a little of your time here
