Thanks Karense and Hilaris - this was quite late in the evening (21:30) and the lights from indoors were complementing the sunset behind the buildings - I also liked the positioning of the person in the doorway.

Very many happy memories of this village where we used to holiday for many years in the 60's. We rented a house at the top of this footpath and used to play on the handrail (is it still there?)as children

William Stephens on May 20, 2009

Hi Jutescrim - yes the handrail is still there. My grandmother lived in St Mawes and we used to spend a lot of time there when we came back on leave from Afica - I went to the School up the hill (where the children were sure that I must be a monkey if I lived in Africa). You should go back and visit - check out Our Cottage!

You could also look at my book of St Mawes photos where I have tried to capture some of the magic of the place.

Cheers

William

Colors are stunning.

It was a magical evening - it was getting quite dark so the glow of the lights from inside helped the last vestiges of the sunset. Cheers WIlliam

Ah yes, I'm just about to do the six hour drive down to St Mawes this weekend to spring clean the cottage. Bookable at http://www.ourcottage.info in case you need a new place to take photos from. I got frowned at when I packed my camera gear but maybe I'll have a chance to sneak out for a sunrise or sunset tomorrow. Come to think of it I think we'll go for a meal in the Victory in the evening!

This photo worked with the different colours and I was really lucky that there was a person standing in the doorway.
