Why the honest bergers of Bexhill thought it a requirement to leave such a legacy is in question. Perhaps they just wanted to tell the time and this was as good as excuse as any.

Nice clock. Seems it was meant to to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902 but they left it a bit late and it wasn't finished until 1904. At least they got it finished before he fell off his perch in 1910.
