hmmm, this looks very familiar, tomas ;) you know, of all the entries in SPC, i only guessed one right so far. as soon as i as saw it, i thought #1 was yours! i've a few hunches on the others, but they've not been revealed yet... :) greets, brian

I'm too predictable! The cropped shot is uploaded to this account now, I kind of like it. :)

Cheers, Tomas

So Brian, did you recognize my entry in this month's SPC2 as well? (only 1 shot) :)

BWS's ghost on April 8, 2009

hi tomas! there are too many this month to really make a good guess, but i'll try #55 :)

maybe a new SPC format next month: 1 week each for entries, voting, guessing (based on voters and previous entrants/voters), then revealing!

it could make it more interesting to more people, and the winner could then be the person who guesses (or even finds matches without revealing to everyone) the most photographers. how's that sound? somewhat different from the original purpose, but it's only a game!

cheers, brian

LOL! You're absolutely right, again! :) #55 indeed was my entry (took it on the same day as this one but never uploaded it to panoramio). It'll appear on my frontpage soon, maybe after some small tweaks since I'm not fully satisfied with it yet.

Although I like the SPC as it is right now your new idea might be worth a try as well. Maybe it could lead to some more activity in the SPC forum topics. The winner could then be the one with the highest total of number of votes for his/her photo added to his/her number of correct guesses.

Greets, Tomas

i can't believe it! :D #55 does look "dutch" in some way, whatever that means, so i guessed it would be either you or guido. i also found 3 other entrant's photos by skimming their front pages and 'boat' tags after they placed a vote! i didn't search till after i voted, and didn't change my votes because of it.

i like your idea of adding the votes and correct guesses to determine the winner. i'm just not sure it would be possible to finish everything (all 4 phases) in a month's time. we can give it a try anyway. maybe allow comments too, to keep it lively, which the knock-off italian version of SPC is doing.

btw, i would suggest cropping the distracting stuff on the right side of your entry photo and cloning out the big spot in the water. i almost didn't vote for it because of those 2 little things ;) i am actually disappointed in the general quality of entries so far, as you can guess by my 5 votes :( but, it's only a goofy game! :D

I agree with you that the quality of most shots wasn't exactly brilliant. Maybe the problem is that most of us have already uploaded their best shots to Panoramio (at least for me that is the case)?

Greetings, Tomas

PS I partly followed your advice of cropping my shot. The photo lost some depth when I removed everything on the right so I decided to only get rid of part of it. That 'big spot in the water' actually was a little twig but cloned out it does look better. Thanks! :)

you're probably right that most people upload their best shots right away. maybe this crazy game will just fade away. i can't give up on an idea though - not till i give it 3 tries anyway! ;) i may just forward everyone to the italian version in their forum.

i saw the new version of your photo and like it even more now :) cheers, brian
