For a fascinating read about this super-volcano that will leave you awe-struck visit Lake Toba in Wikipedia.!
Very beautiful photo dear friend Ian
Hugs from Porto,
Lovely greetings. Füsun
Thank you, Conquilha, it is a spectacular landscape. I first visited this place 10 years ago so it was really wonderful to be back recently.
Thank you too, Füsun. As I sat at the coffee table looking out across this I thought of our cup of coffee at the university in Istanbul.
Love and peace to you,
Beautiful picture and interesting info Ian. Greetings Berend
It certainly is an awesome history of cataclysmic events, and it is an awesome landscape in which to live or explore! Thanks Berend. Kind regards,
Beautiful place. Wonderful shot. LIKE
Cheers from Hong Kong, Jeff
It is one of the most dramatic places in Asia, Jeff, because of its volcanic history. Yet the weather is perhaps the most benign - just a lovely place to be!
Looks as if it was peaceful and majestic at a time ~ certainly a good place to be ~ cherish it my dear one ~ seen from here, it seems like paradise ~ everything different from what one knows ~ love from far away ~ Maja
Your thoughts are right on! And that's what is so alluring about travel! Over there on the peninsula I found a hotel that gave me free internet access to the world! And I was able to contact you from there! It was just a brief window, but valued.
Stunning volcanic landscape formation!!
Indeed, Ah-Pong. There are some grand volcanic landscapes around and this is one! It is a beautiful world.
Beautiful view ! Greetings from Macedonia
Dear darko.o, This is the real beauty of Lake Toba - its boldness, its colour and its changing moods.
No matter how brief the window, a window is a window ~ love it ~ big hug ~ Maja
Thanks dear Maja. Windows worked for Rapunzel too. Glad you could glimpse a little of Inodnesia through some of my windows, and now Tonga passes by those windows.

Thanks very much for your compliments, Marek. My Australian greetings come from Tonga right now - I'm still travelling.
