This cloister of Sant Miquel de Canigó (El Rosselló-Catalunya Nord) is wonderful but the other middle is in New York¡¡¡¡

Hi Josep Àngel

Yes, I knew. It's part of The Cloisters now, a complex that houses the medieval art collection of the NYC Metropolitan Art Museum (MET).

But did you know there is also a Spanish Monastery in Miami? Same story: this one comes from Segovia and was brought to the USA in 1925 by newspaper mogol William Hearst. Unfortunately, something went wrong packing and unpacking the boxes and in the garden is a huge pile of "left-overs". :-)

Best regards from Belgium - Hans on October 18, 2008

Hi Hans, So not know the history of the Monastery of "Miami". It is sad to see how expoliation of the heritage of the countries. Best Regards from Catalonia. Josep Àngel

Hi Josep Àngel, don't you think that's a harsh judgement? Of couse it's sad to see that those monasteries are in the USA now and no longer in Spain or France but at least they still exist. A lot of other heritage sites were left in ruins or torn down... Best regards - Hans on October 19, 2008

Hi Hans, Yes, for some regret the fact that Europeans monuments go to the U.S.A, but it is also true that in Southern Europe, for many years government has not taken care of our Old Monuments. In a few years since it appears that the trend has changed. Is the globalization, isn´t¡it? Best Regards from Catalonia to Belgium. Josep Àngel
