Nice study in tans. Lizards seldom stay still for a portrait. Great shot!

Thanks, Eve. As you well know, photographing animals it's especially nice if you can get the gleam in their eye. But lots of times you just can't, and this is a case in point.

Wonderful shot, Marilyn. I love how even this small guy can cast a long shadow in the right light. Those rocks do look warm and inviting... very pretty!

Thanks, Ryan. Here I'm quite happy with the "pretty" label!

I agree with Eve and Ryan, this is a very good shot and you were lucky being able to take his picture. Whenever I tried to photograph a lizard he disappeared immediately. No chance for a photo. I like your grasshopper photo too, Marilyn. Cheers, Anne

Yes, Anne, I was lucky. With the grasshopper, luck was helped by a powerful zoom. The camera I got last February is not an SLR, but it has an 18x optical zoom which I enjoy very much. The grasshopper definitely did not want anyone nearby! (I had a 10x when I took the lizard.) Cheers, Marilyn

I like this picture, Marilyn! The stone, polished by waters and the lizard, perfectly camouflaged, enjoying the sun, on the alert to disappear at the slightest sound or movement. Great shot! Cheers, May

Thanks, May (and did I forget to thank you, Ainars? sorry). This is a time when I would have been adventurous and hiked down into a canyon, but my aging knees wouldn't allow it! (My husband, son, and daughter-in-law did.) But I was rewarded by the appearance of this lizard instead!

Oh, I think you are very adventurous, Marilyn! You have travelled in so many different places all over the world. And you have done well not to go down to the canyon, or you wouldn't have got this lovely photo. May
