That's really interesting, May. I'm guessing the stone mound is a kind of mausoleum?

I find this fine piece of craftmanship very fascinating as well. It's on the same graveyard as the beautiful arch, which I guess has been some church very, very far back in time.

Hi Tamàs! Thank you! It's an antique and modern cemetery in Ireland. The buildings must be centuries old. I love thes old buildings.
Have a nice evening! May

From the shape of the window and the location it is probably the remains of a parish church. Most catholic churches were destroyed in the 17th and 18th cent. at a time of considerable social and religious change. Old churches like this dot the landscape and it was and is common for local people to bury there dead in and around these churches.
(I’m trying to be very PC. Be very careful in discussing history or politics with us Irish. Neither Panoramio’s nor Google’s servers could hold the data if we decided to debate the rights and wrongs of Irish history.:-) )

Yes, I have seen many ruins of churches and I think I know about the sad history. There is plenty to read on the internet for anybody who's interested in it. I loath injustice and my heart is with the people.
I love in this picture how the top of the opening is constructed. Great work! On the same cemetery is this ruin, they belong together.
