Amelia, I have been told the flower is a Mueller's Snow Gentian. However the flower in my picture seems to have leaves as far as I can tell, whereas the Mueller Snow Gentian has a thin stalk and no leaves. Cheers, Jim.

Yes, thank you, that definitely looks like it. I guess the leaves that are visible in my picture are not its leaves but some undergrowth and the Gentian has pushed its way out above it. Nevertheless an interesting contrast.
