Thanks for sharing in my joy, Denise! It is a favourite part of the world for me.
This is a very special place, and it is special to share it with you. Warmest regards are reciprocated from Indonesia, Australia and now Tonga! All the places I have been recently send their special greetings.
Fascinating sunset and place, well done Ian!
Amazing view! And what a beautiful light you captured here.
Long way from home Ian but a remarkable shot! Mountains are clouds who mimic them! I Lke it!
Warm wishes, Erik
Thanks again, Bedri. It is a special place in my opinion. With sincere respect and gratefulness.
Hi Tom. There are many sacred places where one is awed by the grandeur and the beauty, but this is one of my favourites, Tom.
I am delighted that you could visit this place with me through Pano and enjoy the last light of the day. I love the place and the people.
Indeed, Erik. I am a little closer to home right now - in Tonga - but I feel right at home here as I do in Sumatra. I guess "home" is where you are able to contribute meaningfully and find fulfilment. And so when I was "at home" in Sumatra I was able to email a friend in Tonga and say "I am looking forward to coming home soon." And I felt it.
Thanks for your appreciation.
Word of wisdom Ian Hope you have a great time there.... says someone who's not at home but feeling he is.....
Wonderful sky and sea, nice shoot!
All the bests
Thanks indeed Erik. I will enjoy this visit 'home' too.
Thanks Lofti-Azad. I appreciate your encouragement.
wonderful view!!! congratulation!! best greetings from Brescia, Italy!!!
Welcome &ri.co. Thanks for your visit and warm praise. It was a special day as I watched the lakes changing moods.
My first thoughts on looking at the picture was the old film East of Java, I must be getting old!
Thanks for the mention of the interesting geology. May I be so bold as to insert the link to Wikipedia for anyone else who is interested to browse.
Best wishes Peter
Wonderful site. Such interesting clouds too. Very nice **Ian, Kind Regards, David
While I have been travelling I guess you have been out walking the beautiful trails around you. THanks for providing the link here. I had made a link on another photo of Lake Toba, and appreciate you doing that here. It indicates your awareness and appreciation of this particular feature, which has always captured my imagination, even as a young boy.
At a guess, I reckon a lake this size in the Midlands would have Coventry, Stoke, Telford and Tamworth on its shores! And all of Poland and Germany would be covered with the debris of the cataclysmic event. And LHR would probably have been shut down for a few years!!!!
Superb scene, Ian! Theolfa
