An early morning view of the MT Clipper Bordeaux Oil Products Tanker berthed alongside CT1 (Cruise Terminal 1) of the Admiralty Pier in the Western Docks. The red-bricked structure on the right-hand edge of the photo is the Cruise Terminal 1 (CT1) building, once Dover's Marine Railway Station ("Marine Station").

This Dover Harbour photo, best viewed in a larger size, was taken at 5.35 am on Sunday, 18th of July, 2010, from a point between the Porthole Shelters (to the right) and the Lighthouse (to the left) on the Prince of Wales Pier (western side).

I came down the harbour primarily to photograph the Disney Magic Cruise Ship at Sunrise, but also took two photos of a tug belonging to Dover Harbour Board:

The Clipper Bordeaux is shown in the background to the second tug photo, and from a different vantage point with the sun higher in the sky, the ship appears in its more usual livery (eg dark-blue hull).

Also see the Clipper Bordeaux, Western Entrance (showing the Norman Bridge and Pride of Calais cross-channel ferries in the background) and Clipper Bordeaux and Admiralty Pier Light photos.

The Clipper Bordeaux was built by the Rousse Shipyard J.S.C. of Bulgaria, launched in 2005, and apparently originally called the Crescent Bordeaux. In early 2006 the Rousse Shipyard issued the following press release (1):

Today, January 18, 2006 a new ship hull No 841 was delivered officially to Clipper Tankship Ltd., Southampton, England. The ship has been built under the survey of Lloyd Register. The ship’s name is "Clipper Bordeaux".

Diesel Driven 3400 TDW Oil Tanker.

A Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund webpage states (2):

Clipper Wonsild Tankers (UK) Limited (formerly Crescent Tankships Ltd)

This probably accounts for the change in the ship's name. Clipper Wonsild Tankers is now part of the Clipper Group.
