Well seen and captured!
Oh my - the babies are as big as the mom - I think I would be telling them to get there own food! Great capture Bits.
Thanks geomancer and Cal! I can't claim too much credit for setting up or catching the shot the instant mom's mouth was in the baby's beak. The two must have been just barely out of the nest, as they were just sitting in the middle of this gravel area, clearly not really able to fly. They'd be sitting very quietly until they saw mom approach, and then start to squawk - but it would just be a furious flurry of wings, and over in about 2 seconds. I couldn't actually observe any detail of the feeding at all! So I'd just keep the shutter pressed, and this was lucky timing for that pass.
Wow, what a great moment you've captured! These have to be the hardest birds of all to photograph, and the 'keep shooting and pray' method is exactly the right one! :) Cheers, pear
Thanks pear! These are barn swallows, and they at least do seem to rest a lot more than tree swallows do. A lot of them nest around some buildings in the refuge, so I've been able to get some interesting shots of the adults. But wow, the feeding process needs an ultra slow-motion movie camera to be able to actually see it!
LOL this is SOOO funny :))
Thanks Ippa! and as a mother, I bet you can sure relate to the mom here!
LOL Bitsy :)) indeed :D

شكرا جزيلا لزيارتك وأخلص تهنئة علاء سعيد
Thank you very much for your visit and the most sincere of greetings Alaa Said.
Well! For being in pray and shoot mode, you sure caught this one perfectly, Bits. I don't think you could have frozen the perfect moment any better on purpose.
Thanks n1w - for the nice message and for clicking on this poor neglected shot that I think is so cool! You're definitely right that I couldn't have gotten it any better if I'd been able to see what I was clicking. Maybe I need to just click blindly more often!
