Can you seen the float tube fishermen in the lake?
Great pano and awesome-looking place. Looks like just the kind of place I'd backpack into and explore. How many miles to the Middle Lake? How's the trail quality? I assume the trailhead is at Stanley Lake. Thanks.
It was a great trip. You travel about 3.5 miles on great trails out of Stanley lake. The elevation rise is only about 350 feet to that point. Then the last mile has an elevation rise of about 1100ft. On that part the trail is marginal but passable. Here is my GPS track down from the lake, we wandered a bit more on the way up. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/43537941?sms_ss=google
We actually stayed at the lower lake then did day hikes to the upper lakes, and the south lakes.
Thanks for the info and the prompt reply! That GPS track is incredibly helpful. I look forward to photographing those lakes.
Which lake is the best to camp at?
We camped at the lower lake, probably right at the end of the GPS track. It was about 100yrds before the inlet from the second lake above. It is about 40 feet back from the lake and pretty secluded. It only takes about 15 min to get up to lake 2. If you go "previous" on the gps track (upper right) you will see the other day hikes we did up there.
Ah Hanson Lake I saw this area from an airplane memorized the look of it and found it on google maps! I'd like to go there some day.
