Howick Falls in flood

How is it that you have no comments on this?! Very nice composition and the long exposure is perfect. What a wonderful scene so close to civilization. Well done. Tom

Hi Bruce - the tourist people reckon closer to 100m - I think I've not done the falls any favours by using a landscape format and a wide-angle lens (c.22mmm lens 35mm camera equivalent), but it was so impressive as the flooding Umgeni river smashed into the pool below and the plume of spray rose into the air that i wanted to include it all! thanks for the star - much appreciated. Hi Werner - thanks for that -I remember the chaos quartet from way back in 2007 - funny how some names stick in your mind - when they posted a comment on this Sedgefield roadsign pic - looking at their site now, I see they haven't posted any new pictures since - maybe disbanded/ - all irrelevant, of course - yes it's a lovely clean bright mountain air picture with a good decisive bit of compositional thought thrown in - where are they now?

Great shot indeed, wow it was huge when it was in flood

This doesn't show it very clearly, Ossewa - but you could see the plume of spray rising as you entered Howick - I've only been there twice, but I was lucky that one of them was this time.

thanks for that Rafal - always good to hear from you - the river was so full that it almost makes the waterfall look smaller than its 100m drop, but it was great to get it in flood.
