Good catch, the low sun makes it even better. This is very similar to what can be seen in Uyuni salt flat.
This is not nearly as big as the Uyuni Salt Flat, but I did visit the large salt flat in the Danakil Depression many years ago.

Whoah, you've been to crazy places... Danakil depression has the hottest average yearly temperature of the world: it's above 34°c (94°F) at Dallol.
Uyuni, unlike Dallol & Death Valley, is much colder: -10°c to -15°c is common in winter, and frost can occur all year long.
It is indeed very hot in the Danakil.
