Hi nik. Are these naturally "carved" or cut out by human hands. There were many of these, both natural and hand carved, in the Peak District, near where I used to live - Jim

Hi Jim, I know the canal is carved but I am not sure about the bowl it looked natural to me. I visited this place 8 years ago for my birthday and I didn't have much information on this time. Do you have any picture of yours? :-) nik

Hi nik. No I'm afraid I never took photos of these sort of formations, but I've just found this website with some examples:
