Muskoka, Washago Main Street

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Washago the cottage town. Perfect day, blue sky.............

Abandon the comfort of your home and exchange it for mosquitos, black flies, uncomfortable bed, no TV and barely equiped kitchen.

The hotel empty, trickle of customers in hardware store, few at Ice cream shack on the corner. Only the Liquor store keep this town from disappearing all together!

Many thanks for sharing pictures of Muskoka, Tomas. I've never gone beyond Barrie. When I first heard of weird names like Muskoka, Thunder Bay, Sault-Ste-Marie, I thought of empty lands in the outback of Canada. :)

I like this photo and have saved it. Golden ☆ + Like

You should go, if you have a chance. I go few times a summer. I used to go to a cottage, when my daughter was a kid every year. If you like to swim, there is not much better swimming, than in these lakes!

Sometimes good photos to me don't need to be perfectly composed. They might just remind me of similar places or experiences I've gone through or dream of going. Sometimes it could be a funny photo.

When I first learned that Canadians go to a cottage and do pretty much "nothing" there except reading books and rest, I thought it was so funny. When I was new to Canada, I went to places like Collingwood and Algonquin with some Thai friends and we went like "what?! completely nothing there". I believe you are aware that in Thailand vacation means a little bit of driving, sightseeing dining, and shopping combined. CHAOS everywhere!! :))))

Yes, my girlfriend was telling me she had similar experience, when she arrived here many years ago. She could not understand why would anyone abandon comfort of their home and exchange it for mosquitos, black flies, uncomfortable bed no TV and barely equiped kitchen. And nowhere to shop!

Even now, she only went twice (in 10 years) with me for a weekend!

In Ontario only in Liquor Store you can buy alcohol (Beer is also sold in special store) Otherwise all Ontarians will be drunk everyday!!

At least That's what government must think. These laws are here since 1927!!!

Yes, MonPiche, I know what you mean, specially if you went to a cottage. My childhood was different, but my kid can relate.
