Lucky Strike

Cool, I almost missed the tower...and then I looked up and immediately thought of the tower as a Lucky Strike cigarette:)

Years ago, I spent a summer in Winston Salem and was amazed at how the air in areas around the factories had the sickly sweet smell of tobacco. Are any of the factories operational now?

Joy this has now become more of a 'district' rather than a factory, rejuvenated over recent years. Burt's Bees are at one end and the rest seems to be small(ish) office units and cafes and bars. You are very right Peter in particular with regard to the advertising. I don't know if you ever watch 'telly' but Mad Men is one of the few shows I can stomach. In it the hero, Don Draper, has the Lucky Strike account and comes up with the slogan "Its Toasted" to help counter the health driven anti-cigarette blitz of the 50s. It turns out the slogan was a true one, just from the 1920s.

LS/MFT is the slogan that I associate with Luckies. As a callow youth, I preferred Camels and Luckies before I quit in 1977. I almost wish I could light up right now. Nice light on the smokestack. Mellow time of day.

Larry I read that Lucky Strikes were their manufacturer's answer to Camels. I gave up 20 years ago and have no desires today. Its wonderful.
