This is a monument for "longing for home(Sakhalin)". An epitaph shows "Befor WW2,people went over to Karahuto(Japanese name of Sakhalin)from this place,and come back to this place from Karahuto. After the end of WW2,the gate was closed. "

A pair of pillar represent "the Gate",and a statue represents people who lived Sakhalin in "Ice and Snow" condition.

At the time of fine weather,you can see Sakhalin from this place.
