Fish Ponds from Shalqar Station Overpass

This photo is really from Shalqar Kazakhstan, taken from the railway overpass there. Shalqar is ca. 200 km SW of Aralsk (two stops on your train I guess). One can clearly identify it on Google Earth.

I found out by accident because I like this photo and I couldn't place it anywhere in Aralsk.

Oh, yes, thanks. I guess these are the fish ponds then. They sold lots of fish at the station. Glad you noticed it.

I think you can call the water in the background a lake. It is 6 km long and up to 2 km wide. There is even a river leading to it. It seems to be at least partially artificial though. There is a dam near the little village of Avrora.
