Heron at Holbox Island

How wonderful! I've never seen birds like these anywhere but a zoo. Such funny creatures with no arms or hands, but very majestic as well.

I've seen them in Ontario, but I'd never before had as good a view as this! This is another of the nice surprises I found in my computer's photo album when I was checking on something else.

thats a lovely natural photo marilyn! i bet you are glad you are not in mexico at the moment.lets hope the heron has had the good sense to fly north out of the path of hurricane dean.

Thank you, Anne and steandeb. Yes, I'm very glad not to be there. As I said about another photo, we were there about two months after Hurricane Wilma, and our group of about 30 was the first "large" group to be on Holbox Island after that. We had to divide and stay at two resorts because no one place had enough rooms back in operation, and there was still lots of repair work going on. That gave us an idea about just how devastating these storms can be.

I Like this lonely guy here, it was a pitty that you didn't caught him fishing...:) Would be nice to see it. I never got one like that, but have saw it a few times, but camera not ready or not there. I have to get a spy camera, to go along with me no matter what situation I am in...just joking:)

I wanted to thank you for your visit to my gallery and although I had come across your name before I never left a message and now I discover first that it is very difficult to just pick two or three photos to comment about because you have got an excellent gallery and, secondly, that you are a very social person with long conversations in your very good photos, which therefore have received a lot of views.

It is interesting how different people have different styles of participation. Except for posting pictures on the "share your photos" forum, I am shy about expressing opinions there. But yes, I do take part in conversations about photos.
