A young seagull with what looks like a mouthful of anchovies. Where is the pizza?

Laurel211 on September 11, 2010

He's definately got his mouth full...but it doesn't look all that tasty to me. Nice capture.

yum yum, thanks Laurel

Neat shot, wonder why the older gulls haven't tried to steal it?

Derek Holzapfel on September 13, 2010

This youngster just popped out of the water as it was photographed. The older one's had not yet figured out that new food arrived.

someGuyinmasset on September 13, 2010

Hi, I thought that, also wondering if it's a young gull or is it a shearwater as they can dive pretty good.

Derek Holzapfel on September 13, 2010

Given that there is an adult Gull in the background (red dot on beak), I would assume it is a young Gull. Looking in the bird book, I see that they are rare here, and I have not heard of any sightings from the island Birders.

Well he got himself a pretty good haul anyways.
