That is true Theolfa. I wonder if your rhyme originates from the fact that if you ate one you would hallucinate and possibly see an elf. He could be sheltering from the rain as these appear in autumn in rainy weather!

In the olden days rhymes were used to pass on information, perhaps it was a way of warning our children not to eat them.
