LOL! They try to carry everything. YS + L

It's the charm of a big city, you know. We no longer have these kind of store left in Bangkok. Everyone of them has uniformly become 7-11. So bland. :(

Tomros on September 15, 2010

Yes, I noticed that 7-11 is now a THAI word. That is the only thing I understand sometimes in a conversation.

I do not know, how they manage to keep it open! They do not make money except on smuggled cigarets. The apartment is upstairs, large family takes turns in the store, while they have another job. In addition, they have to deal with crime.

Thanks for the info, Tomas.

My feeling is that area, both E and W of Yonge, was somewhat full of strange, sometimes mentally retarded, people. I remember walking just off Ryerson U on a very good day but suddenly I heard a loud sound that sounded like someone was hitting a metal with a hammer. Then I had to run when it was a guy wearing no shirts carrying sledgehammer and hitting every electrical pole with it!! Didn't know what happened afterward.

Tomros on September 16, 2010

Yes, you are quite right to run.

There is a lot of social housing in this area.

I parked my car in one of the side streets east of Sherbourne. As I was walking along Queen Street, the feeling, that my car may not be there, when I come back was becoming so strong, that I went back and reparked my car west of Yonge Street. I never had this feeling in Toronto before!
