Great shot, hope he didnt leave any deposits on your camera. cheers. D.
Thanks Dianne! Nope - all was safe, Those are water drops. He'd just made a dive for a fish but came up empty. Rats - he flew 20 feet overhead. This would have been amazing if he'd gotten a fish!
Beautiful capture! Cheers Paul.
Good catch Kamalyn
Excellent catch Bitsy, this is a very beautiful bird. We have them around here, but I've never managed to get a good photo. This is really lovely.
Very nicely captured against a cloudless, blue sky!!
Great catch! Never tire of seeing the beauties! Cheers, pear
Thanks Paul, Cal, Laurel, geomancer, and pear! They're such gorgeous birds, it's a thrill to catch a decent shot of one. Although after peargrin's most recent National Geographic-quality Osprey upload, I'm a bit embarrassed to upload this. ;) But it's still about the best osprey I've been able to get so I'm glad it's still liked! This year I've been able to get many sitings of ospreys at Plum Island, but usually too far off for my 200mm lens. But this one kindly flew right toward me, dove for a fish, and flew off right overhead. It was so nice to watch!
Nice shot, Bitsy, although the bird is ruining your clear blue sky.
That's a beaut, Bits, actually the osprey is such a good fisher that the chances of getting him without a fish after an attempt is like 3 in 10 so this shot is rarer than you thought.
wow, just how I feel about posting landscapes in light of your beautiful work! :)
Thanks Norrel, and you are so right about that bird! But even if he hadn't ruined that perfect sky, my photo would have only been a mere shadow of the original masterpiece here on Panoramio.
Thanks Guy - That's a really nice way of looking at it! Of course, all the photos I've gotten with an osprey with a fish have been blurred, too far, obscured by branches......so It still would have been nice if he'd had a fish. But I really like the intent look on his face, probably muttering under his breath at the one that got away!
LOL pear* - Thanks!
pull your left wing in, turn yourself about, dosie doh to your partner...
Thanks for the reference to Nawitka's classic.
LOL! The link to Nawitka!
Good capture of the bird. Like. Greetings, Mats.
:D Norrel - can't believe you hadn't seen that one before. A true masterpiece!
Haha and Thanks Tery!
Thanks very much Mats! It pales in comparison to peargrin's bird photos, but it's the best one I've been able to catch in quite a while. Cheers!
Bitsy! Sometimes one cannot see the forest for the trees. The big letters in the blue box that say 'Send comment' should have been my first clue. Thanks for the help.
LOL, Thanks Shadowrider! Sometimes the obvious things just aren't all that obvious. Hope you're enjoying Panoramio :)
Thanks very much medved_ua - Cheers to you from Boston.
