Yes they are under a lot of stress because of their location and they have died back a lot. These are the southernmost that I could find along Hwy 1. But I have heard there are some a couple miles further south in Salmon Creek canyon.

A mile or so north in the next deep canyon are some better looking trees in the Owings Memorial Grove.
