1300 y.o.,”Baikusheva Mura” - Natural Phenomenon, Baikushev's Pine, Pinus Leucodermis, Bulgaria, Save the Earth!

”Baikusheva Mura” is one of the very rare and uncial with its ages tree in the Planet Earth that should be saved and known! The tree dates from more than 1300 years. Its approximate size is: height 26 m; diameter 2.2 m; circumference 7.8m. "Baikusheva Mura" is a type Pinus leucodermis.

The tree is getting its name by the forester Kostadin Baikushev, who in 1897 discovered it and described the specimen. It is situated in Pirin Mountain, Bulgaria in 1930 m height see level. It is located close to the Banderitsa refuge on the road between Bansko and Vihren refuge and it is very easy to reach.

My photo you see here is made from rather far from the tree but all the same it was impossible to get all the tree in one picture because of the trees all around. This picture is made some years ago and if you go there now you will find some stairs around the tree which is not so nice and it was not needed to make I think.

If you decide to go in Bulgaria for holidays I would warmly recommend you to make a trekking in Pirin Mountain, which is really something that young people should make at least once in a life there, and to see of course Baikusheva Mura before to go to the top of Pirin Mountain Vihren.

I made several times 10 days trekking in Pirin Mountain and you should be sure it will be something that you will remember for all the life - Pirin Mountain is one of The Most Beautiful Mountain I have ever visited and Love!
