I have a very interesting nineteen century book of russian explorer Kozlov on this part of Tibet tilted "Mongolia and Amdo". I dont't know is that was translated into English, but if so i strongly advise you to read it.

Hi Michal, and thank you for the advice, I will check for a translation. I'm not sure I'll return to Amdo but we (my wife and me) will certainly travel again to "historical" Tibet in the Kham and Lhassa regions, maybe entering China from Laos to visit Sichuan, then follow Mekong to the Himalaya. Did Kozlov went there ? Us French usually read Alexandra David Neel books, also from nineteenth century, when looking for travel ideas in Tibetan regions...

If you want, you'll find other pictures on our web site Mektoub.

Bye, JiCe.
