Concerning the Schreckhorn you are right, Hans, but most viewers would not recognize that. Because from this angle the Schreckhorn (and also the Eiger) look completely different, compared to the view from Beatenberg or from Thun. And the highest summit of the Berneralpen (the Alps on the ground of the canton Bern), the Finsteraarhorn, cannot be seen from here. - Do you notice the detailed informations for hikers on the yellow signs?

Schönes Panorama Kurt, zwischen Lauberhorn und Eiger kann man die Bahn auf der Kleinen Scheidegg erahnen (sind sicher gut 10km Distanz).

Grüße ins Berner Oberland, Rainer

You mentionned, dear Hans, that the foto probably shows Mt. Faulhorn (far left). After having looked at a detailed map, I notice that the summit left of the Grosse Scheidegg is not the Faulhorn (2'680m), but rather Mt. Schwarzhorn (2'927m) - the Faulhorn is located farther left, approximately five kilometers from Schwarzhorn.

Hallo Rainer, Deine Distanzangabe von 10 km ist tatsächlich sehr genau; ich hab's auf einer 50'000er Karte nachgemessen.

Hi Hans, some decades ago I have walked up from Grindelwald First to Bachalpsee, with its great view. Besides that I know the region of First better in wintertime, because of skiing activities with my family.

kurt.fotosuisse on October 14, 2010

Dear Hans, the hiking time of 1 to 1.5 hours from Grindelwald First to Bachalpsee is correct. I did the same as you, even decades ago -> Upwards I took the Seilbahn as far as possible.

Da muss ich unbedingt auch noch hin, Kurt. One for my personal bucket list, so to speak LOL. This picture reminds me of hiking all the way down from Eigergletscher to Wengen back in 1998, July 17, a day with clear, blue skies. Unforgettable views from the Jungfraujoch and some fun-skiing on the glacier, too :-)
