This Roman amphitheatre was perhaps the largest in the UK. situated just beyond the city walls od Chester, it is part of a long term archeological dig. New discoveries include blocks with holes in the floor of the arena; possibly used to anchor chain to ensure gladiators stayed close to the action. Over half the amphitheatre is still to be revealed
