Planted by a well-meaning (but inexperienced) garden-hand in a postage-stamp sized patch of white sand, stuck between a wooden enclosure and a cement kerb, with only occasional rain showers to caress it and quench its thirst, this Brave Little Bottlebrush overwhelms passers-by every single year with a shower of pink soft beauty, shimmering in the early summer sun.

(This is a soft pink flowering variety - not the usual brick or deep red!)

Hazel darling, I gotta tell you that ALL your photos look good Zoomed, I prefer to look at all the photos in zoom, even though my monitor is 32" TFT screen!

Did you know that bottle brushes are rare nowadays? we don't wash out bottles any more, we re-cycle plastic and cardboard bottles now.......THAT'S PROGRESS????

Hello Hazel. Hmmmmmmmmmmm lovely shot. Such a lovely colour of Pinkish/Red and nice how the sun shines on it too. Its interesting to see it growing in your country also!! I though we, just had it all to ourselves. I think yours Hazel, is much more impressive. KIndest REgards from, David

I've been in touch with Ken Dodd, he wants to use them flowers as tickling sticks, you see his normal supply from the Jam Butty mines in Knotty-Ash has dried up!

Mike --

That all sounds distinctly Dodd-gy to me!!

Back for an appreciative stimulating walk in your garden, and into your art gallery. Wonderful, wonderful, Hazel.

  • I also am proud to be a native of Callistemon land - and glad that molldiddlo enjoyed them in OZ, along with the proteas.

Liewe Kykma - baie dankie vir die kuiertjie - jammer ek is 'n bietjie agter met my kommentaar!

Hoop dit gaan baie goed?

Die herfsblaarfoto's is almal 'n groot "treat" vir my!!

Dear Ian in the Land of the Callistemons - I'm so glad you visited this lovely little Pink Dwarf Variety - all the bottlebrushes I have seen around the area are looking so stunning this summer!

So we must say thank you to Australia for producing such a beautiful plant, with many medicinal properties too - I love to crush a leaf and just smell that lovely clean, antiseptic essence on my fingers.

The Callistemon really is something special.

Warmest greetings

from Hazel
