The croft in the photo is known as Rientraid. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there, and many happy family holidays thereafter.

My Daughter Georgina & Duncan live there now. Modernising, & growing crops, first time for years. Bunk house available. Any history would be great. Did you know the midget submarines & the X Craft trained here for the raid on The Tirpitz WW2?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I didn't realise the facility existed to exchange comment. Great to learn that the house is in full time use. This was much needed to save it from decaying. I did know about the X craft, I worked for Lord Jellicoe who held the lease for many years. Drop me a line at craig@cj-web.net and I'll give more detail.

My Grandfather lived here as a child. He was born in 1895 and walked to school @ Unapool from Rheantraid. He was one of a family of 10. When he married he was employed as a shepherd and lived at Glencoul. My Mother who was born in 1940 can remember seeing the submarines in Loch Glencoul, although the submariners thought they were going about their exercises unseen!
