There has been a place of Christian worship by the edge of the sea at Aberdaron since the fifth century and the oldest remaining part of St Hywyn's dates back to the 12th century. Perched right on the tip of the Lleyn peninsula, this small, coastal church has one of the most scenic churchyards in Wales. The church was once an important place of worship for pilgrims traveling to the nearby holy island of Bardsey (Ynys Enlli).
