Christensen Barracks, 1st Squadron, 2nd Armor Calvary Regiment was my first duty assignment. I use to be a Unit Police (UP) guarding the Ammo Dump and the front gate. This picture of Christensen Barracks front gate bring back wonderful memories. Always Ready!!!

I was 17 when I got there in January of 1976 and left in Jan of 1979. Bindlach and Germany was an amazing part of my life with my fellow troops and the German friends I made. Border patrol, gunnery in Grafenwoehr and Reforges driving our M551 Sheridan down the autobahn and all over the country side. The people would come and bring beer and we would give them smokes and c-rats what a deal lol. Snow up to your ass. Doing guard duty at the motor pool carrying an ax handle and a 45 with a few bullets to guard the ammo dump. Wow looking at the today picture on google maps and seeing how it is gone has made me feel my age. Jeff Schaefer A Troop 1/2 ACR.
