Pretty neat, Bits.

Bits-n-Pieces on October 6, 2010

Thanks Guy! lol, it even came in 2nd place in the first SPC I entered - 'Stairs' - about a year ago. I've always really liked the shot, so I have no idea why I've never gotten around to actually posting it before now.

And in the years since I took thephoto, the building was renovated into a fancy hotel, so it doesn't even look this cool anymore.

Hey! Now you've stolen one of kamalyn's photos. I'm telling the teacher ;) Can't remember if I voted in that SPC but I know I liked this photo for a top spot. Cool stairs, windows and that light in the top, left one.

This is a nice one, Bitsy! I'll go back a year in time to add my vote to the SPC-2009 contest.

Bits-n-Pieces on October 6, 2010

Thanks Brian :)

And Thanks for the thought Norrel! Yes, the one vote would have tied me for 1st place, but I ended up moderating the next month anyway - Nov.2009 with the subject of 'Fences'.

Well seen and shot!!

Marbiz on October 8, 2010

I like this shot k, the colour, the symmetry and the title!

Bits-n-Pieces on October 9, 2010

Thanks Steve! This row isn't votable yet. Maybe next month. :)

Thanks very much for all your comments Laurel, geomancer, and marbiz! I was just standing waiting for the crosswalk light to change and looked up and saw this. Couldn't resist. But what's interesting: I've since stumbled across similar shots on Flickr.

Cant understand why you havent posted this before, grouse shot, love the spiral stair case, and that wonderful blue in the windows, do you know whether it is window coverings or painted. Great photo.

Hi Dianne - lol, I have no idea why I never got around to posting it before. I always meant to. I think maybe the windows had some kind of film applied to them to help block out the hot afternoon sun. I don't know what the building had been used for, but it was vacant and just starting to undergo renovations at the time I took this. So the bare lightbulbs and lack of any shades or curtains sure added to starkness of the view then. It's not the same now that it's an occupied hotel.

Spiffy spiral with spirit!

Fantastic composition and colours Bits, I can see why you did so well in the contest.

I don't know why I haven't commented on this one yet, but...oh, yeah I do, because I haven't been around much. So, I really like this one a whole lot. Perfectly seen and executed, Bits!

Bits-n-Pieces on October 24, 2010

LOL, you haven't been around much? We hadn't noticed! Glad you got a poke in the eye to remind you to come visit us ;)

And Thanks!! Funny thing is, I really like this shot, too. So I have no idea why I let it sit on the computer for a couple of years, always thinking 'oh, yeah, I've got to get around to uploading that stair photo!'
