Interesting picture. Several 10 years ago such machines were used in our country too.

Tnx for comment!

When I was small boy I seen such mashine 'in action' not only in movie. I remember, there was a lot of straw dust around of this device and I was bewared of two dangerous areas, watch for wind direction, beware of straw dust and protect my eyes, and beware of fast moving motor transmission belt from this device wheel to tractor wheel.

I had fun zooming in to look at the details, Ainars. By chance, did you take a close-up shot of that wood section with the circular pattern (to the left of the metal wheel of the belt drive)?

I've been having some fun lately by taking closeups (of small details, blowing some up 'larger than life' even) while testing these two new/recent click-a-di-click cameras I aquired last week... I love the large(r) displays (2.5"), but am terribly frustrated by how fast the batteries run down... :-(

Seems to be a kind of transmission wheel or a coupling for additional tools; maybe a barrel-organ to have more fun during the hard work. ;)

@A thanks for your mail. I just now replied...

@p something like that, yes. The circular thingy that interested me seems to be a metal plate nailed to the wooden planks to hold that extra drive shaft in place. Those big metal hooks at the front end must be some kind of controls over the innards of the box with which operations are guided. It must be quite a noisy and dusty monster to watch operate -- I don't recall ever seeing one like that.

What you described, nowadays it's called a ghettoblaster
