Yes, in Finland the clear cutting has been made in extremely large areas.. Many people say this is the price to be paid for having the forest industry and by this the high standard of living.. However, on my mind if there are areas like that with a side of e.g. 500x500 metres after each other all the time, then the price paid has been too high..

However, the importance & volume of forest industry in Finland (and in the whole Western Europe) is now getting down, this might lead to better lever of conservation. Still we need to have industry like that and the conflicting views of production and conservation can also be better solved.. I hope at least.
