The gentians really do pop out! Like it - and vote, though you'll never win because you don't spam;-)

Tomas K☼h☼ut on November 28, 2010

Hello Gudrun, I appereciate your vote because I know this is not spamming "vote for vote". I know I have no chance to win, but the participation in contest helps photos to get some popularity (and I send to contest only good ones that deserves some extra popularity).

Cheer, Tom

I do vote for entries if I happen upon them and think them good but often I don't say so because I don't want the spammers on my pages;-) Some of them still manage to find their way through my favourites, they seem to hit everybody who has left a comment somewhere- it's funny to see the row of copy+paste comments piling up;-)

c0l0gne1 ♣...That's what I do too, for the same reason! :)

c0l0gne1 on November 29, 2010

That contest does spoil a lot of the fun, I'm afraid:-(

Tomas K☼h☼ut on November 30, 2010

LOL Gudrun + Renáta

One of Murphy rules: What can be spoilt - it is going to be spoilt. :(

I've already sent some proposal to Gerard how to make contest better (almost anonymous, smaller cluster size, multiround, with voting only through contest gallery...) - but it needs complete redesign on the system side. And it will result in less fun: Almost no friendly votes - which are "integral" part of community life (for some members).

Cheers, Tom

That seems like a fair way of voting, I might even enter the odd contest myself, I really hope your way will be instated Tom. As it stands now, entering contests is futile and really NOT fun thanks to some people that know their pictures would not get voted for on their own merits, so they make it their full-time occupation to spam for votes.

For now it would be helpful if there was perhaps a universal symbol or colour code that people could post in their profile to signify that they do not accept spam. Having a separate contest for non-spammers and another one for spammers would also be reasonable. :)

In the end the spamming will be the downfall for Panoramio, because contest winners obviously gain high visibility in GE. And having crappy pictures at high altitudes won't amuse the paying advertising customers of Google;-) Well, lets hope something is going to change, I certainly support your proposal, Tom!
