Palmina, the bird seems to think, why will I have such a beautiful plumage? One sees him so satisfied.

Regards from Granada, Arturo.

It is strange that it is one of the few birds that the female is as pretty as the male. They have the same colours. They nearly always are in pairs.

They must be birds on the way to humanization Palmina, and the females are beginning to be the seducer.

Regards, Arturo.

I am very lucky GBTA to have these wonderful fellows come to breakfast each day. I have 3 sitting outside eating seed as I speak. They are such a pretty bird, I could watch them for hours.

this is so cool would love these birds as wild visitors dont think something that gorgeous should be caged great to see them doing their own thing...

Palmina Moore, on June 18, said:

I agree that they shouldn't be caged but seemingly they do make wonderful pets. They are a few folk in my home town who have found the chicks when they have fallen out of the nest and the birds bond with them. One sits on his owners shoulder while he peddles all over Frankston and never fly away. We had 12 down for lunch today and what a noise they make while they decide who should get what part of the deck table. They quiet down for a while then all hell breaks loose again. They are comical to watch.

Anyhow that's always very strange for me when I see in the Zoo's that the animals (birds) with the largest sphere of action has the smallest cages ... ?!?

Palmina Moore, on June 21, said:

You are right, it does seem funny!

great photos, palmina. eastern rosellas live in the wild here in certain parts of NZ, and many country people see them in their backyards every day. i would love to know how to attract them with food like you do with lorikeets. and you're so right, they do have quite a squawk!

Palmina Moore, on June 21, said:

Hi Camerama Thank you for the lovely comment. All I use to feed them is a Parrot mix. Lots of Grey sunflower seeds (the black ones have too much oil in them) I cut up some fruit into little bits and put it in the mix. I have a very bright serving plate that I put the food in so I don't know if the colour attracts them or not. We have a lot of Lorikeets in this area so we are very lucky.

Good luck!
