I don't think this picture could have been taken from the coordinates indicated. You most probably took this photo nearer to Jaglot on the right side of the Indus. The coordinates show it on the left side and just below the Astore road, while the Astore road is showing in the photo. The only place where I think you could have this view would be 35 33 15.62, 74 39 25.29 or 35 40 33.56, 74 37 50.27 where the Nanga Parbat sign board is located.
thanks for your feedback; I checked in Google Earth, and I think you're right. I changed the coordinates to your second suggestion (at the Nanga Parbat signpost).
I went up a trail by jeep - and then on foot an hour or so, to come to the most beautiful viewpoint for Nanga Parbat. Up ahead somewhere, a few hours trot, was the base camp, I was told, But...in front of us the enormous mountain. With binoculars, I could see some jap climbers on the face, about half way up. Behind me were some animals and a few tribals, you know: young boys with kalashnikovs. PLUS the most beautiful view of a whole range of mountains in the distance. I felt like I was very high!
This was some 12 years ago, but I remember it clearly.
Hi, Dirk i think the most pictursque view of nagha parbat is from upper juglot or (Sai) small village on a high mound very close to KKH ,after crossing a bridge on darot nullah on the main KKH road while heading towards Gilgit.
