Hi Nick, Lovely to see your shots of Mousehole - my, the tide was way out when you took this one! Great especially to see 'The Ship' (where my wife and I announced our engagement many years ago), and the building (that used to be) 'The Lobster Pot', where we've stayed/eaten/enjoyed on numerous occasions way back... Looks like a lovely day. Best Mousehole memory has to be late one evening in the week before Christmas 20-odd years ago, after a black-tie birthday party dinner at the Pot, walking out on to the harbour to listen to the band and the choirs singing carols. A warm evening, all the boats and houses lit up, then all piling back into The Sshhipp for nightcaps.. (Thanks for bringing that all up again!) Best wishes from the west of Ireland, Clive (PS: like#1)

Nick Weall on October 22, 2010 ~ It looks you have done your researh John for the benefits of others here is a link :

History of Mousehole

The Penlee lifeboat disaster of the 19 December 1981, in which the lifeboat and its entire crew of eight, all based in Mousehole, were lost during an attempted rescue in hurricane-force winds, also had the Sennen Lifeboat out that night trying to get around Lands End to help in the rescue attempt.

The Cornish waters are harsh in the storms and have claims so very many lives over the years ~

An interesting perspective I was sat on the harbour side just out of shot right this July watching a shoal of mullet feeding oblivious to the crowds of people.
