Church Svindinge

Svindinge Church lies in a village to the south east of Nyborg. A church has stood here since the Middle Ages, but virtually nothing is known of the building that stood here before this one. The church is one of the few in Denmark built in Renaissance times. The magnificent building was constructed in the late seventeenth century by Christoffer Valkendorf, a very powerful and wealthy man, who served at one time as Regent to King Christian IV. Hans Christian Andersen was a regular visitor here during stays at Glorup Castle.

Dank je Berend. Dat glooiende landschap kan mij erg bekoren. Het heeft wat romantisch.
