Its not Cley and i have checked along the A149 between Sea palling and Caister,the coast road where i am aware of some and there is nothing similar that has been photographed.im looking at the general layout and it strikes me as fenlike or interior Norfolk behind Yarmouth/Caister (A47 ish)toward Norwich.Fenlike puts you on the Cambridgeshire border which i do not know well.Maybe that may twig something in your memory.john
After all these years - a response!!!! thanks John - All I remember was that we were travelling from East Finchleyt in North London to Great Yarmouth - but we do take highways and byeways a bit when I have a camera with me! - we did stop in a lay-by by a busy road to video a scene - I remeber being buffetted by fast moving traffic, but I have a feeling that this was somewhere else - but it was about 13 years ago - I know that much because my son Robin was still a baby - I'll plug tyour comments into my searches and see what I come up with.
It seems i was right in a way in as much as i guessed where it might be.i thought when i looked at it,it was the back of beyond.The only normal route from london to yarmouth would be straight up the A12 but as i now know from whence you came,it is possible maybe you took,a route from there which took in the Beccles area (A143?? i forget but thats suffolk but takes you in via Diss so you straddle the Norfolk border)but nevertheless plenty wet enough for windmills.Your answer,and kick my butt if im wrong,is in the Yarmouth,Norwich,Diss triangle!!! But you probably knew that already :-)
I don't know for sure John - but it helps a lot to narrow the search, even if it turns out wrong - it's a starting point, and that's what I've not really had. I'll let you know if I track it down.
