I'm almost surprised that this "old fossil" (forgive the pun!) coal-fired power station still exists Kenny! As you say unmistakeable. I remember passing this many a time on the old A1 when I was a kid back in the 1960's. Best wishes - Beamish

Yes still there however now the new A1M passes on the other side of the towers. This was taken from the old A1 road which now only carries local traffic. As kids the towers were a marker on the landscape as we travelled south. When we saw the towers we knew we were nearly at the service station.

Hi Kenny,

nice HDR of Ferrybridge with pleasing composition!

There are actually several similar power station along M1, and all of them are from 1960's or 70's. They were not the most modern ones when built, so you can guess that today they certainly are not the cleanest ones in the world.
