Fisherman at Humber River with small Salmon

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

Salmon Run. This is the time of year, when salmon goes upstream to spawn.

This is in the middle of the city, it is surprising home much wilderness the city still has. The salmon run here probably even 500 years ago!

Yesterday they still tried to jump over the dam (the other picture). Today I have seen just one trying. These are all going to die. The fisherman told me, they are not very good to eat at this point. He just harvested the eggs and let it go.

The fisherman come to this spot from all over, as this is the best spot for the salmon run. The other creeks/rivers are to small.

Here is a photo of big salmon from Oct 2012

I'm not the only one to say this salmon isn't rather small.

Tomros on December 28, 2010

Tassky, it looks big because the fisherman is a dwarf. ;-).

Actually the average size was about 12-15 lb (6-7 kg)

OK, he can't be strong too, lifting a fish the way he does shows his weakness. Dwarf you say :-)
