Hi Peter!I find that Islam is the most prominent religion in the Aston with 44.3% of the ward's population stating themself as Muslim!Christianity is the only second most prominent religion in Aston at 23.4%...Situation!In what the roots of this are?...Old Good Russian Friend Diggory Venn!

Hi Diggory,

During the 1960's there was a lot of immigration from the British "Commonwealth" countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the West Indies. Arguably those from the West Indies have integrated with the indigenous population, but those of Islamic origin have tended mainly to live together in areas of the big cities. Sometimes not even learning the language.

Aston is not now like it was when Ozzi and I were born there!

The way of the world! Best wishes Peter
