It seems like they are not to blame. I don't feel like taking on the GE monster, so I guess we will just have to wait and see, once more.

When the popular tab was created, Eduardo said that the pictures included in this tab were those that had been sent, or were to be sent, to Google Earth. So it's no surprise that our photos disappeared from Google Earth, since there's been an update, at a time when our pictures were removed from popular tab ! I really think the error came from panoramio, not GE. Anyway, you're right, the only thing to do now is to wait for the next GE update (in 3 months?)
