Chicken island :), well they cannot be taken by a fox than or some other predator from the land, seems to me its just a lot of work every day to fetch the eggs, they do it by boat or can it be pulled to the side with a rope? And sure hope they dont become sea(ch)sick(s) when there is a lot of wind, BW to you Udo ,

Hi dear Karin!

Great thanks for your visit, very kind and interesting comment + Like!

Did you ever see an island like this one?:) Of course it's a wonderful idea from all the fisher-houseboat people to make this kind of islands. additional they have on their boats a lot of chickens. On this island the chicken will never have contact to snakes, etc. which are in surrounding landscapes! Perhaps a paradise island for them!? During stormy weather they always sit at the ground in waiting position!:)

My best wishes to Holland and you, Udo

HI UDO , no never saw an island like this, well a very clever idea, what about watersnakes than ? or do they not live there? Well guess it is paradise for them , maybe add a Palmtree for some extra shade and Decoration :), we do have a lot of houseboats here too, but they dont have the chicken islands. sometimes a little garden < BW and thanks for info

Udo...happy

Hello dear Udo!

I read your explanation of the same photo on another page, and realized that these fishermen live the whole family in these floating homes, I am very interested, and where they spend the winter? I like your photo.

With best wishes, Irina

Hello dear Irina!

great thanks for your visit and very kind comment + Like! I'm very happy about your interest and that you like this photo!

The fisher-families are living the whole year in their house-boats. Also their is a possibility to stay for all the chickens, etc., but only for extremly weather conditions! Normally all the animals will stay on their island, which is very close to the fisher-boats! Of course, during rainy, stormy, snowy and other hard weather conditions all the amimals can go and stay under the shelter on this island...as you can see!

My best wishes to you, Udo
